Craig’s river scene landscape painting in Acrylic & Soft Pastel

Thank you to Craig Penny for his demonstration on Monday night 7 September. It was a masterclass in painting the landscape. Craig painted in Acrylic paint, then applied soft pastel over the foliage to create a sense of movement.

Thank you to Louise Corke

for a great demonstration on Monday night 6 July 2020

Louise is a professional artist from Queensland, focusing on pulse and meaning in her art to express a conversation of respect between her and the subject matter. She painted a shoreline scene ‘Splash and Crash’ with plenty of great advice and commentary. This is her finished painting.

Louise teaches regularly in her Studio, around Australia and overseas. She has been awarded over 75 prizes and has been published numerous times in Australian, French and USA publications and showcased on the Colour in Your Life TV Series. Her work is found in both public and private collections around the world. Caroline Lewallen will announce the winners of the monthly online Eckersley’s Members’ Encouragement Award early in the meeting and then Louise will commence her demonstration. For more information on Louise, go to her website at https://www.louisecorke.com

Thank you to Penelope Gilbert Ng!

who demonstrated on Monday night 1 June 2020 at 7:30pm

It was a great opportunity to see this highly talented and experienced artist at work and to be able to ask her questions.

A big thank you to Penelope for her generosity in waiving her fee. Her finished portrait in Pastel is entitled ‘Man from Rotorua’

A big thank you to Ben Winspear!

Ben sold the painting from our May demonstration

and has donated half of the proceeds to our Society. Ben was also instrumental in helping us to set up our first online demonstration and we  appreciate his assistance very much.

Ben’s demo was held on Monday 4 May 2020.

Our Eckersley’s Members’ Encouragement (EME) Awards are back

Peter Fielding won 2nd place in the Advanced section on 4 May 2020

We are now conducting them online

Basically, the format remains the same. Here’s what you do :

  1. Take a hi-resolution photo of your painting
  2. Take a photo of yourself and your painting together (or if you can’t do that, then one of yourself)
  3. Identify the category you want to enter
  4. Then email your 2 hi-resolution pics and your category to info@vicpastel.com.au.

The paintings will be uploaded to our EME Awards Entries webpage and members will be asked to vote via email.

Details on how to enter & vote are available on the EME Awards webpage and further instructions will be sent to members each month via email, on when to submit paintings and when to vote.

We are monitoring the current situation

The PSVA Committee has decided to continue with our online Monthly Meetings & Demonstrations as well as our online EME Awards for the time being. We will continue to review the situation on a month -to-month basis.

So for now,  all PSVA ‘face-to face’ events are still on hold. This includes Art-In-Action, Workshops, and Paint-Outs. We are hoping that we are able to conduct our next Paint Out in September. We believe the well-being and safety of our members & the community is our top priority and that this decision is in everyone’s best interest.

We will continue to monitor this evolving health situation and will keep you informed of any further developments or changes to our Program via email.

Members can still look forward to your VicPastel News magazine sent out bi-monthly as well as demonstrations online via Zoom and our monthly EME Awards being held online.  You may also like to stay in touch through our Facebook Group and PSVA on Instagram @pastelsocietyvictoria

Refunds will be arranged for payments already made for Art-In-Action and Stephic Clark’s Workshop. In order to receive your refund, please contact Kerryn on email at kerrynyoungpsva@gmail.com and ensure that you include your Bank details : Account Name, BSB and Account Number, so that Kerryn can transmit the funds direct to your account.
