I was born in Wangaratta, but grew up and lived most of my life in the Goulburn Valley. I have been painting for at least 30 years but only discovered pastels in 1993. I am self taught out of necessity due to the commitment to raising my five children. My first born was in 1973 and my last was born in 1995. I have entered many group exhibitions over the years and have been lucky enough to win many prizes and sell my art. If I put my mind to it, I think I can paint most things, but I prefer still life and the occasional portrait.
Since the early nineties I have been a member of the Shepparton Artists' Society of which I am a past Secretary and a past President. Just recently I have joined The Pastel Society of Victoria and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists. Occasionally I tutor pastel classes in my studio. This is a great way to meet new people or catch up with friends as being an artist can at times be very solitary. With every painting I learn something new. I am not perfect so I try to learn from my mistakes and hopefully progress with my next painting. It is exciting and challenging. There is so much to learn and too little time!
